Composer and Musician

Steve Parker has been a professional pianist, bassist, MD, and composer for thirty years, arranging and orchestrating for stage show and film, making contemporary opera in the Baltics, playing production shows in the Caribbean, conducting theatre on the South Bank and playing for Australian avant-garde cabaret.

 

Steve has been Music Arranger with Music Supervisor John Cameron for Barbara Jane Mackie's stage show and film 'Rumpy Pumpy' and is arranger for her new musical film 'Cowboy Girls'. Other arranging work includes string writing for Hed Kandi's Ibiza and Italian DJ sessions, brass arranger for George McCrae and as lyricist and composer/arranger on 'Polar Extremes' for Ready Made Theatre.

 

Steve has composed for television advertising, choirs, bands, theatre and dance including site specific pieces and commissions for children, from a Quartet for Timpani and Fire Extinguishers to a Lithuanian Opera which included dance, circus and a Gregorian choir of nuns. His compositions have toured Europe and the US.

Recent playing work includes the Temptations and Four Tops Arena Tour with Tavares; touring with The Three Degrees, The Platters, George McCrae and Freda Payne; Steve Grant’s 'Barockestra’; performing and recording with pop artists including James Newman; as pianist for the space-jazz-balkan-hiphop ensemble Mimika; keyboards and MD for the West End show ‘A Beautiful Noise’; and as keyboardist for Barok in Scandinavia.

 

Steve has been Musican, MD or composer for Ballet Rambert, Sadler’s Wells, English National Ballet, Project: Opera, Jonathan Lunn, Russell Maliphant, Wayne McGregor, Mark Morris and Musical Director for Michelle Heaton (Liberty X), Peter Purves (Blue Peter), Steve Leeds (Go!Go!Go!), Big Howard and Little Howard and Rhianna Merrallis (Millie Inbetween).
